The evidence of the community’s generosity is visible in the presence of the Medical Clinic and all around the Durham Hospital. In addition to building the Clinic, donations over the years have funded a wide array of new equipment purchases for the Hospital.  Facility upgrades and new equipment make high quality health care more accessible here in our own community. Diagnoses will be quicker and allow for better treatment options and faster recoveries.

Donors funded a new patient shower room, providing safety, privacy and accessibility to patients in 2017.

The Foundation is also raising funds in 2017 to add a portable direct digital imaging tool to the X-Ray machines and help with the new CT scanner.

Funds were used to purchase a Portable DI upgrade to the X-Ray machine, several new Holter Monitors and  2 new Cardiac Monitor and Defibrillators in 2016.

Donors helped provide several new pieces of equipment in 2015, including 6 new IV pumps, a pediatric crash cart, ultrasound probe disinfection system, blood bank processing system, transport ventilator and a specialty pharmacy fridge.

In 2014, the hospital lab was deemed to fall short of the required standards in the accreditation process and the hospital was unexpectedly facing the need to do a major upgrade of the lab. Thousands of tests are done every year in the lab for local residents and closing the lab was not an option. The Foundation provided the $122,000 required for renovating and upgrading the lab.

Past purchases include patient lifts, alarm beds, ultrasound scanner, hematology  and urinalysis analyzers and a public accessible washroom.
